VP Business DevelopmentAstraware is the Handmark Game studio and the premier developer and publisher of award-winning games and entertainment software across a range of smartphone platforms including UIQ, S60, Windows Mobile and mobile Linux. Prior to his move to Business Development, John was in charge of the company’s Marketing and PR functions, having joined Astraware from the marketing department at Game (Stores) Ltd, the UK’s largest dedicated video games retailer.
Raised in the North West of England, John attended Manchester University and gained a First Class Honours Degree in English Language. Before settling in Marketing and Business Development, John had a varied career path which included time as a freelance Radio Journalist, and several months at Europe’s Premier Leisure Park where amongst other roles he performed daily in a giant dog suit!

Barefoot Software — Emanuele Cipolloni
Chief Technical OfficerEmanuele started to work with computers when they had half a kilobyte of RAM, since then his passion has always been with computer graphic and he has relentlessly developed many graphical oriented software. After 4 years spent at Texas Instruments developing innovative interfaces for die testing and sampling software, he has worked for one of the leading European software companies in the data management field where he met his business partner Mark Hillsdon. Together with Mark, he created Barefoot Software in 2001 and he developed eyeGT, an innovative graphical application platform that has already won market acceptance and critics in the always demanding embedded software development universe.

Lead Systems ArchitectZoltan studied and holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics. After working on inter-cellular communications and evolutionary bio-informatics, he turned to computing architectures and practical programming. He participated in compiler and runtime developments for the Force programming language. In 2004 he launched CellPhoneSoft, whose products soon became widely recognized by power users of UIQ smartphones. As the Lead Architect at CellPhoneSoft, Zoltan defines the company’s profile as a prominent provider of system-level applications, tailored for the demanding end-user.

VP EngineeringSteve is VP Engineering at EMCC Software Ltd based in Manchester, UK. He’s worked in the Symbian OS arena for over 7 years and has been involved in the development of applications for UIQ based smartphones for over 5 years.Amongst many other tasks, Steve is responsible for managing the EMCC training team. He has worked on a wide variety of software projects and led the team which brought BlackBerry to Sony Ericsson’s UIQ based phones.

Head of Partner AlliancesSteve has over 13 years of Partner Management experience, and is currently Head of Partner Alliances at Orange, based in London, UK. He joined Orange in 2001 and was instrumental in building their group developer programme, Orange Partner. Steve manages the relationship between Orange Partner and its top tier alliance partners such as the OEMs and platform providers. He also manages much of the Orange Partner operations with a focus on bringing mobile applications into their commercial channel.

Marketing Manager, Developer Engagements and ExperienceSanjeet Matharu graduated from the University of Westminster in 1998 and joined Symbian in 2000 as a software engineer. He became technical architect culminating in the creation of the Symbian Test Network. In 2004 he managed the Symbian Signed program and worked closely with licensees such as Sony Ericsson. Sanjeet currently defines Symbian’s Developer Program strategies and works with members of programs such as the UIQ Developer Community.

VP EcosystemElisabet Melin joined Ericsson Mobile Communications in 1998, when she started her career as usability engineer in early research and development of bluetooth. She moved on to start up the design of the user interface in a joint project between Ericsson and Psion, which resulted in the UIQ platform. In 2000, Elisabet was appointed Product Manager for UIQ and took on the role as Head of Marketing and Sales two years later. She has played a vital role in expanding the business and company to almost 400 employees, and is now responsible for growing the ecosystem around UIQ.

System ArchitectMatthias Reik is a System Architect at UIQ with more than 10 years of C++ programming experience. He started however his programming career when he got his first PC, an 8088, in the 80s. He has ever since been interested in computers and started to appreciate all different kind of systems that are constantly around us. He believes that software development is still a very young discipline, and tries to learn and use knowledge from all other kind of areas.
Since 1998, Matthias contributes heavily to the Symbian/UIQ world by joining Ericsson Mobile Communications and later Symbian/UIQ. He holds a Dipl.-Ing. (Univ.) degree in Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
